The Representative Coach pathway is built for coaches working in representative programs and state-pathway environments — the level above club competition. Across two full days on court in Warragul, experienced Basketball Victoria presenters work through advanced technical and tactical concepts, game analysis and preparation, athlete wellbeing and performance support, and the leadership and mentoring skills representative programs demand.
Complete the fifteen hours of practical sessions and successfully submit your assessment tasks and you'll commence at Representative Bronze — the accreditation required to head coach in NBL1, Big V Championship and Divisions 1 & 2, and State Teams.
Are you eligible?
Movement into the Representative pathway reflects the environment you coach in — and applications are assessed by Basketball Victoria before places are offered.
Your application must include
- A Competition accreditation held for a minimum of 12 months
- A copy of your current accreditation certificate (uploaded with your application)
- Two coaching references (name and contact details)
- A brief coaching history — teams, levels and seasons coached
Good to know
- Entry is by application — successful applicants receive a Basketball Victoria registration link by email
- You'll commence at Representative Bronze on completing the practical sessions and assessment tasks
- There is no Recognised Prior Learning for this course — everyone completes the in-person sessions and assessment
- Representative is the required Head Coach level for NBL1, Big V Championship / Division 1 & 2, and State Teams

Basketball Victoria assesses your eligibility — including that you've held your Competition accreditation for at least 12 months.

Successful applicants receive a Basketball Victoria registration link by email to secure and pay for their place.

Attend both days in Warragul (9am–5pm) and submit your assessment tasks to earn Representative Bronze.

How do I register?
You can't register directly — entry is by application. Submit the expression of interest form on this page; if your application is successful, Basketball Victoria will email you a registration link.
Am I eligible to apply?
You must have held your Competition accreditation for at least 12 months. Your application also needs a copy of your current accreditation certificate, two coaching references and a brief coaching history.
I'm not Competition accredited yet — can I still apply?
Not yet — the Representative pathway builds on Competition. Start with the Competition Coaching Course (Bronze), also delivered in Warragul, then apply for Representative once you've held that accreditation for 12 months.
When and where is the course?
Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 May, 9am–5pm both days, in Warragul. The exact venue is confirmed with your registration details.
What does it cost?
The Representative Bronze Coach Course is $310 per coach. Payment is made through the Basketball Victoria registration link — not at the application stage.
What accreditation do I get?
On completing the two days of practical sessions and successfully submitting your assessment tasks, you'll commence at Representative Bronze — with progression to Silver and Gold through ongoing learning and coaching involvement.
Can I skip parts with prior experience?
No — there is no Recognised Prior Learning for the Representative course. All coaches complete the in-person sessions and the assessment piece.
Who needs Representative accreditation?
It's the minimum Head Coach level for NBL1, Big V Championship and Divisions 1 & 2, and State Teams — and the pathway for coaches working in representative and state-pathway environments.
