step one

Register & pay.

Every player must be registered and paid through PlayHQ before they take the court. Registration is handled by Basketball Victoria, not by WBA directly — so even if you played with us last season, you need to complete it again for 2026/27.

  • One registration per player, completed by a parent or guardian
  • Returning players still need to register again for the new season
  • Payment is made at the same time, through PlayHQ
  • You'll get a confirmation email from PlayHQ once it's done

If you hit a problem partway through, don't start again from scratch — email Natasha and she'll sort it out with you.

Registration and payment for the 2026/27 season are both completed here. Register via PlayHQ opens in a new tab · playhq.com

season calendar

Every tournament, every date.

The full 2026/27 calendar. Compulsory tournaments are marked — all teams attend those. Everything else is your coach's call, and you'll always be asked before an entry goes in.

Compulsory — all teams attend Optional — your coach decides

What "optional" means

Optional tournaments are not a decision for families to make on their own. Your coach decides whether the team enters, based on where the group is at and what the team needs. If your coach decides to enter an optional tournament, they will let you know well in advance and ask you to confirm availability before the entry is submitted — you will never be committed to one without being asked first.

staying in touch

One group chat per team.

WBA will create an official communications WhatsApp group for every team this season. It's where training changes, tournament details, court allocations and game day logistics will be posted.

01

We set the groups up

WBA creates and administers each team's group once teams are finalised. You don't need to do anything to start it.

02

Invites come to you

Family members will be sent an invite to join their team's group. Further information — including how invites are issued — follows in the coming weeks.

03

It's the official channel

Anything that changes at short notice goes there first. Make sure at least one parent or guardian per player is in the group.

Watch your email over the coming weeks — that's where the invites and the setup details will come from.

we need you

Every team needs a team manager.

Team managers are the reason a season runs smoothly. If you'd be willing to take it on for your child's team this season, we would truly appreciate the support.

You don't need a basketball background — just a bit of organisation and a willingness to keep people in the loop. We'll walk you through the rest.

What a team manager does

  • Keep the team across tournament details, times and venues
  • Help coordinate the team's WhatsApp group alongside the coach
  • Organise the scoring roster across tournament weekends
  • Be the link between families, the coach and the association

good to know

Questions, answered.

01 We played last season — do we still need to register?

Yes. Registration is per season and is handled through PlayHQ by Basketball Victoria, so every player needs to complete it again for 2026/27. Payment is made at the same time.

02 What if my child can't make a training session?

Tell both your coach and your team manager, in advance rather than afterwards. One session a week is compulsory, but life happens — early notice is all we ask.

03 Do we have to attend every tournament?

Compulsory tournaments are attended by all teams — the same goes for the priority VJBL tournaments, Southern Pen and Eltham Dandenong, if your child is in a VJBL team. Everything marked optional is your coach's decision. They will tell you well in advance and ask you to confirm availability before entering.

04 When do we need the uniform by?

Orders close Friday 4 September 2026. Order through the iAthletic store before then — after the cut-off we can't guarantee gear arrives ahead of the season opener at Morwell on 10–11 October. Old-style playing shorts are not permitted from this season.

05 Can we reuse last season's gear?

Yes, provided it's in the current Warriors style. The exception is playing shorts — old-style shorts are not permitted from the 2026/27 season.

06 When are JCC teams decided, and can they change?

JCC teams are finalised prior to Christmas. Once confirmed, no changes are made outside of injury or exceptional circumstances approved by the Director of Warriors Junior Basketball.

07 How will we hear about changes to training?

Through your team's official WhatsApp group and your team manager. That's the first place anything short-notice will be posted.

08 What do tournaments cost?

Entry fees are $50 per player per event, invoiced at actual cost and shared equally across the team. JCC entry carries an additional $30 levy per Team 1 player, with WBA covering the rest.
