The season, in short.
Selection in the first instance is to the age group squad, not to a named team. Teams are finalised over the coming weeks of training.

In the first instance, selection is to your child's age group squad — not to a named team. Our Age Group Head Coaches used the trial process to identify possible team line-ups, and will use the coming weeks of training to finalise those teams before the first tournament.

Trials identified the squad for each age group, along with possible team line-ups. That's the point you're at now — your child is in the squad.

Teams finalised at training
Over the coming weeks of training, Head Coaches work with the squad and finalise team line-ups ahead of the first tournament in Morwell on 10–11 October. Your child's team is confirmed at that point.

Reviewed after the first tournament
Following that first tournament in Morwell, coaches are encouraged to make adjustments where required — for team chemistry, roles or gaps in a line-up. Most players stay where they are.
Any movement is managed by our coaching group and approved by the Director of Warriors Junior Basketball, in the best interests of the players and the program. Once settled, we aim to keep teams together for the season.
What the season costs.
We want every family to accept a position knowing exactly what to expect financially. Here is everything in one place — nothing is invoiced that isn't on this page.
Covers coaching, court hire, administration and Presentation Day. Includes free entry to the Warragul Junior Invitational.
Payable later in the season. WBA subsidises the remainder of the Junior Country Championships entry cost.
Per player. Full passthrough at actual cost, split equally across the team.
Where a CRP team attends a VJBL or metro event, costs are passed through in full.
Heavily reduced. Train only — not eligible for tournament play or JCC.

These estimates are based on seven away tournaments at $50 per player, and exclude uniform. Actual costs are invoiced as they arise, and families are always notified in advance of each event.

- Summer 2026/27 domestic registration, where it applies — paid to your domestic club as normal.
- Travel, accommodation and meals for away tournaments and the Junior Country Championships.
- Optional apparel — polo, training shorts, backpack, water bottle.
- $45 replacement fee if the WBA playing singlet is lost or damaged.
Uniform & apparel.
Full ordering instructions follow once you accept your position. The costs below are so you can budget now.
Your child's playing singlet is provided at no cost. It remains the property of WBA and must be returned at the end of the season. A $45 replacement fee applies if it is lost or damaged.

iAthletic is our exclusive supplier. Players may reuse items from previous seasons if they are in the current Warriors style. Old-style playing shorts are not permitted from the 2026/27 season.

Compression garments must be black with no visible logos and must be fitted to compress. Loose-fitting compression wear is not permitted.
A commitment of time, money and energy.
Accepting a position means accepting the commitments below — for players and for families. They're set out in full in the information booklet.
Player commitment
One compulsory training session per week, attendance at all compulsory tournaments, early notice of any absence, and full effort at training and on game day.
Family commitment
A parent or guardian to help with scoring at tournaments, and volunteering at least once at a program fundraiser and at the Warragul Junior Invitational.
Domestic eligibility
Players are ordinarily registered in the upcoming Summer 2026/27 domestic competition. Exemptions apply in some cases — if you have one, or think you need one, talk to us before you accept.
The season starts in Morwell.
Trials are done and squads are named. The season opens with the Morwell Basketball Tournament on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026 — everything before that date is preparation for it.
Training times, the full tournament calendar and championship schedules are confirmed separately and sent to families once teams are finalised. The information booklet has the full season overview.

Accept your position
Complete the form at the bottom of this page by midnight on Wednesday 26 August 2026 — that's how you confirm your child's place. Please read the information booklet in full first, and tell us in the form about any known clashes with tournament dates.

Uniform ordering
You'll receive iAthletic ordering details, sizing information and cut-off dates so your child has the current-style uniform in time for the first tournament.

Training timetable
Once teams and coaches are confirmed, we'll send your training night, time and venue, along with your Team Coach and Team Manager's contact details.

Payment & registration
Registration and payment instructions follow separately, including how and when season fees are invoiced. Tournament costs are invoiced as they arise, with notice in advance of each event.
Nothing is payable until you receive those instructions.

Questions, answered.
01 When do I have to pay?
Not yet. Payment and registration instructions are sent after you accept your position. Season registration is invoiced first; tournament costs are invoiced as they arise, and you'll always be notified in advance of each event.
02 Is the $50 away tournament fee per tournament or for the season?
Per tournament, per player. It is a full passthrough at actual cost, split equally across the team. Our estimate of ~$350 assumes seven away tournaments across the season. The Warragul Junior Invitational is our home tournament and is free for Warriors players.
03 Which tournaments are compulsory?
Morwell, Korumburra, Sale, Moe, Traralgon and our home Warragul Junior Invitational are compulsory. Southern Peninsula, Geelong, Dandenong/Eltham, Shepparton and South East Junior/Casey are optional and entered at the coach's discretion — families are notified and asked to confirm availability before any optional tournament is entered.
04 Do we have to buy the whole uniform bundle?
The four items — playing shorts, warm-up top, training singlet and socks — are mandatory. You can buy them individually for around $175 plus delivery, or as a bundle for $150 with free delivery. Items from previous seasons can be reused if they are in the current Warriors style. Old-style playing shorts are not permitted from 2026/27.
05 What does the JCC levy cover?
The $30 levy applies to Team 1 players only and is payable later in the season. WBA subsidises the remainder of the Junior Country Championships entry cost.
06 What if my child is offered a development / shadow position?
Shadow players train with the team at a heavily reduced season fee of $150 and are not eligible for tournament play or JCC. Uniform requirements still apply.
07 Does my child still need to play domestic basketball?
Ordinarily yes — registration in the upcoming Summer 2026/27 domestic competition is the standard eligibility requirement for the program. Exemptions are available in some circumstances, including recent relocation to the area, participation in Basketball Victoria or Basketball Australia development programs, and long-term injury or illness. If you think an exemption applies to your child, contact us before accepting.
08 Who do I contact about fees, uniforms or registration?
