WARRAGUL, VIC — It’s finals time, and it’s confirmed: the Warragul Warriors will host Southern Peninsula in a home elimination final this Saturday night. The Big V Division Two Men’s side locked in fourth place and a home final by closing out the regular season in style — storming home for a 102–93 come-from-behind win over Wallan on Saturday. Now the club turns its attention to a special occasion: a home final in the Warriors’ first season back in the Big V, under lights at the Warragul Leisure Centre.

Win, and the Warriors play on. Lose, and the season is over. It doesn’t get bigger than this — and it’s happening right here in Warragul. The club is calling on the entire community to pack the Leisure Centre and turn it into a fortress on Saturday night.
The Warriors saved a great escape for their final regular-season game. Wallan came out scorching to pile on a 32–19 opening quarter, but Warragul refused to blink — flipping the contest with a relentless second and third term and outscoring their hosts 83–61 across the final three quarters to win going away, 102–93. It was exactly the kind of character the Warriors will need in September.
Captain Jordan Gooiker was sensational, drilling six three-pointers on his way to a game-high 26 points. Off the bench, Hayden Davey was enormous with 17 points (five threes), 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while Breyton Buysman (18 points, 8 rebounds) and Luke Rawiri (16 points) did the heavy lifting. As a team, Warragul buried 14 three-pointers at 40% — a shooting display to carry into finals.
A home final in the Warriors’ first season back in the Big V — on home hardwood, in front of a home crowd — is a special occasion for Warragul basketball.
