What Is Ford Aussie Hoops?

Ford Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia's premier beginner program designed specifically for children aged 5–10 years. Whether your child is picking up a basketball for the first time or looking to develop their early skills, Ford Aussie Hoops provides a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where children of all abilities can learn, grow, and fall in love with basketball.

Our program focuses on skill development, building self-esteem, and teaching social cooperation through organised sport — all while ensuring every participant has maximum enjoyment on the court.

How It Works

Three Progressive Stages

Ford Aussie Hoops is delivered in three progressive stages, ensuring participants engage in activities and games relevant to their physical and mental capabilities.

Stage 1
Introduction to Basketball
Children learn basic ball handling, movement skills, and the fundamentals of the game through fun, age-appropriate activities designed to build confidence and enjoyment.
Stage 2
Skill Development
Participants build on foundational skills, developing dribbling, passing, and shooting techniques alongside basic teamwork concepts that prepare them for cooperative play.
Stage 3
Game Preparation
Activities increase in competitiveness as children prepare to transition into local club domestic competitions, applying their skills in structured game situations.
